Quintessentially English – Harrods Tea Room opens in Qatar

We have recently completed our first Harrods Tea Room in Qatar, situated in Hamad International Airport which now accompanies the Harrods retail store.

Harrison have worked closely with the team in Knightsbridge to create a modern interpretation of their classic offer.  Those looking for the quintessential English afternoon tea experience can enjoy finger sandwiches, a seasonally changing patisserie selection and freshly baked scones, with speciality tea or sparkling wine.

The local project delivery team stayed faithful to our very specific detailing, allowing us to adapt the design to reflect the locality working closely with our UK based build specialists to ensure that the exacting quality expected at Harrods was maintained.

People from around the world often wonder why the English always drink milk with their tea. The answer is that in the 17th and 18th centuries the china cups tea was served in were so delicate they would crack from the heat of the tea. Milk was added to cool the liquid and stop the cups from cracking.
